Graphic design and visual communication – SalMaz Studios
Sally Mazák is a Melbourne illustrator, graphic designer and graphic recorder who trades as SalMaz Studios. Working live and in real time, she captures complex discussion visually to lift engagement, comprehension and recall. She is a Professional Level Member of Graphic Recorders Australia and produces the visual communication that supports Ideas Advisory's work, including the ILViz and BCViz process.
Hannah Jay
Gender impact assessment specialist – Jay Consulting
Hannah Jay is a gender-based violence, gender equality and child protection specialist who has advised the Asian Development Bank, Save the Children and UNICEF across the Asia-Pacific. She prepares gender impact assessments and brings gender-responsive analysis to business cases and investment proposals.
Dr Ian Smart
Benefit-cost analysis and economic modelling – Optias
Dr Ian Smart is the Managing Director of Optias, an advisory firm with more than 75 business cases and over $6 billion in total estimated investment value behind it. He is an accredited Gateway reviewer in Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and the Commonwealth, and specialises in benefit-cost analysis, economic modelling and GIS analysis.

Commercial advisory and investment readiness – Clyde Rise
Javiera Maturana is the founder of Clyde Rise and a former director at the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), where she led Gateway Reviews across $90 billion of high-value, high-risk projects and advised Cabinet on major investment decisions. She is a qualified Gateway reviewer specialising in business case development, commercial viability and investment readiness.
Jeremy Smart
ILM facilitation and business case writing – Smart Logic Mapping
Jeremy Smart helped create the Victorian Government's Investment Management Standard and the Investment Logic Mapping (ILM) process while at DTF. He is an accredited DTF facilitator who has run more than 2,000 workshops across all portfolios, trained thousands of practitioners, and reviews prospective facilitators on behalf of the Victorian Government. He also writes business cases with Ideas Advisory.
Mark Hamilton-Smith
Content writer, editor and Freedom of Information specialist
Mark Hamilton-Smith is a senior government content writer and graded journalist with three decades' experience across Victoria, Canberra and Tasmania, including 12 years at DTF. He refines business cases and executive summaries, advised on Freedom of Information at DTF for more than a decade, and co-presents the Ideas Advisory FOI training.
Sarita Narayan
Benefits management and evaluation – SDN Connect
Sarita Narayan is the founder of SDN Connect and a benefits management and investment evaluation specialist. She led business case quality assurance across the Victorian transport portfolio and developed the whole-of-transport Benefit Management Framework at the Department of Transport and Planning. She brings culturally responsive facilitation and engagement to every piece of work.
