Graphic recorder / corporate illustrator

Sally Mazák has a BA in Graphic Design and is an experienced art director, corporate illustrator and live graphic recorder. She has over 20 years professional experience creating strategic visual communications for diverse audiences – government, commercial, corporate and private.

Sally can graphic record (visually scribe) events, seminars, meetings – anything – live or online. Being a graphic recorder is the perfect intersection of her skills and appetite for communicating complex information with simplicity.

She can also create a visual after your event – an ‘after-sketch’ or ‘rich picture’ – which provides a valuable tool for summarising complex material in a concise and memorable way.

Sally infuses her graphic recording with a designer / illustrator eye and a modern palette. She is a professional member of Graphic Recorders Australia. Check out some of her graphic recording work (for professional privacy not all work can be shown). About graphic recording

Graphic recording is the process of visually capturing content, in real time, using a combination of words, shapes, symbols and imagery. Graphic recording describes both a process – the act of live illustration of content, and a product – the artefact created during the session.

A professional graphic recorder embodies a diverse combination of skills including finely tuned listening, synthesis and critical thinking skills, visual thinking, visual communication, drawing, typography and layout design.

Graphic recorders usually work in partnership with a front-of-room facilitator, allowing them to focus solely on the role of capturing information. It is commonly used in workshops, conferences and presentations as a tool for audience engagement, enhanced comprehension, memory retention, and emotional connection to content.

Here are just 10 benefits of graphic recording:

  1. Visuals are processed faster than a lot of words (zzzzz)
  2. Improves recall of content by using both sides of your brain: verbal and visual
  3. Retention of information improves: 65% of the population are visual learners
  4. Quicker, simpler and clearer communication
  5. Stimulates emotional connections
  6. Stimulates creative thinking
  7. Validates participants input
  8. Creates clarity from complexity
  9. Creates interest that drives motivation
  10. Distils complex information and connections.
